
Garland is now signed for the Cavs for the next six season.
million extension with the Cleveland Cavaliers is official.
The team announced the move in a press release on Saturday. The deal was first reported a week ago on July 2. Per tweets sent out from the team, it appears Garland signed the deal while in Las Vegas as the Cavs play in summer league.

“It’s cool. It’s a blessing,” Garland said to NBA TV’s Chris Haynes during the broadcast of the Cavs-Spurs summer league broadcast on Friday. “It’s super cool just to have an organization that just believes in me and trusts me with the ball in my hands, so it’s super cool just having it.”
“Darius has proven to be a tremendous basketball player and someone who embodies everything a franchise would want in a young player,” said Cavs president of basketball operations Koby Altman the release. “We’ve quickly seen Darius grow into an NBA All-Star and an integral core piece in our pursuit of sustainable success. Both on and off the court, Darius has demonstrated a strong commitment to this organization and the community. We look forward to our future and what we can accomplish here in Cleveland.
Altman is pictured above with Garland and Rich Paul, the CEO of Klutch Sports. The team did not officially announce the financial terms of the deal, but it has been reported as the above noted $193 million. It could jump to $213 million if Garland makes an All-NBA team next season. The extension kicks in after the upcoming season, the last year of Garland’s rookie contract.
