As the coaching hiring season continues throughout the NFL, only a few teams have managed to find someone they like. However, the Browns are gunning down someone they seem to like, that being Jaguars Offensive Coordinator Grant Udinski. He is a very young coach for the Jags, and has been talked about around the league as a lethal and potentially even genius offensive mind. Will he be willing to come to this team, or are we just too unstable for someone with such potential in the NFL.
His Backstory with the Jaguars
Udinski has only played a single season with the Jaguars, though in that single season he led them to the playoffs and managed to spike up QB Trevor Lawrence’s stats from an awful 2045 yard, 11 touchdown 7 interception season to this year, a 4007 yard season with a 29/12 touchdown to interception split. The Jaguars bounced back and managed an incredible 13-4 season, and despite the loss against the Bills in the playoff, they were an offensive powerhouse throughout the season. Udinski led the Jaguars to being the eleventh best offense in terms of yards [5735], a drastic improvement from 2024 where they were 25th for yards [5206]. The Jaguars also jumped into sixth place in terms of points scored through 2025 [474], coming up from 2024 where they only managed 320 in 26th place. Bringing the Jaguars from one of the worst offenses to a top ten one is no easy feat, and Udinski managed it all in only his first season.
His Place With the Browns
Udinski is one of the main candidates for the Browns, not only because of his offensive skill, but because the Browns already have a defensive mastermind at Defensive Coordinator. If the Browns can manage to get an offensive and defensive genius on their team, it would make their own staff something special. Having someone who is considered an offensive genius on your team is something teams want for years, and having someone so young makes him a rare gem in the coaching world. The offensive problems the Browns have suffered recently wouldn’t be fixed perfectly by hiring a new head coach, however it is a great step in the right direction that the Browns need these days.
Can the Browns Even Get Udinski?
Udinski isn’t only looking for a job with the Browns, he also has been looking around the league at teams like the Bills. Of course the Bills is a much more appealing job for an offensive minded coach, since Josh Allen and James Cook are a force that would make any head coach drool. But for a young coach looking for a big job, the Browns might be the right choice for someone like him. He may be able to decide staff, and truly make the team his own if the QB situation doesn’t work out. For someone trying to become a big name in the NFL, being able to control their own team can be a major factor into where a coach wants to go.
Do We Have a Chance?
The Browns do have a chance, but don’t get your hopes too high. With the Bills in the mix, and that team being far more established than ours, expect some tough selling throughout the next few weeks. The Browns are going have a hard time convining him to come to our team over the Bills, but if the owners and Berry want to make the team better, getting a young offensive minded coach is a great step in the right direction.
