Yes, the 10-year-old version of me would be extremely upset with the current circumstances. No, not the fact that the Cleveland Guardians have clinched the playoffs and just finished an incredible last game of the regular season. But because of something different.
The scheduling. It’s truly quite wild…
The first playoff game against the Tigers is at 1:08 pm first pitch. Same with the second game. A third game (if needed) could be flexed to a later time if it works out that way, but is likely to be the same time.
I can just imagine my 10-year-old self having to go to school and miss the playoff games because I’m forced to be in class. I don’t know how I would be able to handle that and I honestly feel bad for all of those that do…
Now, I’m a big boy. Almost age 30. Actually, I will be working and missing the games myself. It’s certainly conflicting, but I am hanging in there, trying to manage. I do feel bad for all of those workers missing playoff baseball because of this timeframe and how it is upsetting to many.

Sorry, dude…
Literally, the vast majority of regular-season baseball games are at night. Sure, exclude Sunday’s but the rest of them start at seven.
On a different front, isn’t the hype of games that are played at night much more than an average baseball game. It’s a shame that it has to be that way and the league should really find a way to have games on different nexworks and such in order to be able to have these playoff games as night games.
All my little friends in class have to miss the playoff baseball games. I’m so sorry. Yes, I would give it a shot with your parents to fake an illness and stay home for a sick day. Unfortunately, I bet they’ll be able to catch you in the act, knowing what’s going on…
If you are old enough to have a phone, you gotta follow the score, take bathroom breaks and try and best as possible to be able to follow what happens.
One last fun method:
So, for me, this is sort of a humble brag since I have to post the scores for Cleveland Sports Talk. However, one cool thing I’ve done in the past is record the game, ignore all scores and any talk about what is happening and then watch it completely at home once I get back without family and friends telling me what happened. Now, I can’t do that, but it used to be a fun method.
Regardless, go Guardians and let’s win the first round against Detroit!
