As I’m waiting for this Browns and Steelers game to start, I thought of this play that I saw during the Steelers and Bengals game. It’s called “The Tush Push.”
So, what is “The Tush Push?”
VIA AI: The “tush push” is an American football play, popularized by the Philadelphia Eagles, that is a variation of the quarterback sneak. In this play, the quarterback takes the snap and is immediately pushed forward by several teammates who line up behind him to provide extra momentum, especially in short-yardage situations.

I think this is an unfair play and it takes away from the authenticity of the game. The factor that the extra momentum removes what would be an actual QB sneak in the past.
Isn’t part of football the fact that either the quarterback or running back actually has to rush through the line themselves to gain yardage and get either the first down, touchdown, or whatever the team is actually trying to achieve? The fact that the offensive line has a job to help get said yardage.
Originally, I feel the concept was a good and more so a “clever” strategy, but sometimes there simply needs to be rule changes in sports and that needs to be the case with this one too.
Now, let’s have our Browns actually rush forward without this concept and probably find a way to disappoint us fans like they always do each and every game.
Certainly, I presume this will be talked about this offseason with the league as a whole and I bet it will be changed in some way before next year.
What could be changed is that if the play is still run a then-illegal concept, it’s either a certain yardage penalty or that the play must be run again. We shall see…
