The game for me was Thibs calling a timeout down 91-85, with 9:32 remaining and NOT bringing Jalen Brunson back on the other end, leaving Payne on the floor one more possession, the Knicks not scoring that possession and giving a 3…that 94-85 deficit proved insurmountable – 10:53 PM

Indiana’s guard defenders are mostly good. It’s just that “mostly good” is a sizable step down from “Ausar Thompson” and then “Derrick White and Jrue Holiday,” so not super surprised Jalen Brunson looks great thus far. – 8:18 PM

More on this storyline

NBA Stat: LeBron James with 21 consecutive All-NBA selections. The gap between him (21) and the second place (15) is the same size as the gap between second (15) and 32nd (9). Just incredible. -via Bluesky / May 23, 2025
Stephen A. Smith: The thing we have to understand—and what’s important about this conversation—is that when we debate the GOAT, the negativity of it comes from LeBron and his camp. Nobody else. When we say he’s number two all-time, we’re appreciating the fact that—of the thousands upon thousands of players that have played in the NBA since 1950… 1947, 1950, rather… okay—LeBron James, there’s only one player we look at and say definitively we think was better: and that was Michael Jordan. What did I say to Rich Paul one day? ‘You act like that’s an insult.’ Rich Paul’s response: ‘It is an insult.’ Because that is how they have acted when it comes to the GOAT conversation. -via YouTube / May 23, 2025
LeBron James: ALL NBA at 40!! Low key crazy to me right now! Sitting here watching the playoffs just thinking about it. Blessed beyond I can even imagine.👑🙏🏾 -via x.com / May 23, 2025
During a recent interview on “The TK Show,” Kerr explained why his bond with Curry is eerily similar to the close relationship between longtime San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich and highly decorated big man Tim Duncan. “Very similar, very similar,” Kerr told Tim Kawakami about his relationship with Curry having a striking resemblance to Popovich’s and Duncan’s. “I think Pop and I are a lot alike in many ways, and I think Steph and Tim are a lot alike. I would say that Tim and Steph, if you had to put down names who every coach who ever coached in the NBA, if you asked them to name a couple guys they would want to partner with, Steph and Tim would maybe be the first two guys. -via NBC Sports Bay Area / May 22, 2025
“And I think that’s the dynamic I saw with Pop and Timmy when I played for four seasons with the Spurs. It was very similar, it was collaborative, it was genuine love and friendship. A lot of humor a lot of joy, it’s hard to find that. But Steph and Tim are very similar in that regard. They’re probably the two most collaborative superstars. the most easy to work with that I can imagine.” -via NBC Sports Bay Area / May 22, 2025
Steve Kerr: It’s a tricky one because Jonathan Kuminga obviously is gifted and wants to play a bigger role and wants to play more. And for me, I’ve been asked to win. And right now, he’s not a guy who I can say I’m going to play 38 minutes with the roster that we have — Steph and Jimmy and Draymond — and put the puzzle together that way and expect to win. -via San Francisco Standard / May 22, 2025
Kristian Winfield: Thibs on not calling a timeout when Brunson had ball on final possession: “Open floor. I thought he got the space. I’m gonna trust him in that situation vs. dead ball.” -via x.com / May 23, 2025
Law Murray: The New York Knicks were outscored by 20 points with Karl-Anthony Towns on the floor in Game 2 The Knicks 5-man starting lineup of Brunson / Bridges / Hart / Anunoby / Towns was outscored by 13 points in Game 2 and has been outscored by 29 points in the 2025 ECF vs Pacers. -via Bluesky / May 23, 2025
Fred Katz: FINAL: Pacers 114, Knicks 109. Pacers lead the Eastern Conference Finals 2-0. • Siakam 39-4-3 • Haliburton 14-8-11 • Turner 16 pts • Brunson 36-3-11 Game 3 scheduled for Sunday night in Indianapolis. -via x.com / May 23, 2025
