The Cleveland Cavaliers have established themselves as one of the NBA’s most entertaining teams so far this season. Unfortunately, a move that the organization made on Sunday may hurt their standing among neutral fans.
According to NBA insider Shams Charania, the Cavaliers plan to waive center Tacko Fall. The 7-foot-6 center, who’s also become a fan favorite, had been on a two-way deal with Cleveland.
To replace Fall, the Cavaliers plan to sign guard Brandon Goodwin to a two-way contract, per Charania.

The move will bring Fall’s stint with Cavaliers to an end after just a few months. He appeared in 11 games, averaging a mere 1.1 points and 2.1 rebounds in 5.4 minutes per contest.
Waiving Fall makes sense for the Cavs, who have already have plenty of big depth. Rookie sensation Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen lead the way, with Kevin Love and Lauri Markkanen providing additional length at forward.
Goodwin fills a need for Cleveland in the backcourt and is more than deserving of the spot. However, NBA fans and media members could’t help but be disappointed by Fall’s departure.
Sad for Tacko, but makes sense. Cavs need the PG depth a lot more than they need center depth. https://t.co/ezOR21ToAu

Bummer for Tacko. Goodwin fills a more pressing need and showed some two way talent while with the team. https://t.co/l5VERYXe4p

Other fans saw Fall’s release as an opportunity. Quite a few took to Twitter to try and recruit the big man to their respective teams.

Fall, 26, should be able to land back on his feet soon enough. He showed plenty of promise in five games with the Cleveland Charge, the Cavs’ G-league team, this season, averaging 18.6 points, 12.0 rebounds and 3.4 blocks.
Fall may never be a regular rotation player in the NBA, but he brings a unique skillset to the game that should intrigue a few teams around the league.
Time will tell where he pops up next.
