Three Draft Targets for the Cleveland Cavaliers

May 22, 2022 by NEO Sports Insiders

1. Dyson Daniels- G League Ignite

The first prospect I believe that Cavaliers will look to draft is Dyson Daniels of the G League Ignite. Daniels is a 6’6  200lbs combo guard who would pair well with Darius Garland. He averaged 11.9 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 5.1 assists in the 2021-2022 season. While growing up in Australia, Daniels looked up to former Cavaliers point guard Matthew Dellavadova. His playmaking ability would provide a second ball handler when Darius Garland is off the floor. The Cavaliers would be fortunate to land Daniels as he is a projected top 10 pick but is an enticing prospect nonetheless.

2. Malaki Branham- Freshman

The second prospect that the Cavaliers could target is Malaki Branham of the Ohio State Buckeyes. Branham is more of your traditional shooting guard at 6’5 and 180lbs next to Darius Garland. Branham averaged 13.7 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2 assists in the 2021-2022 season as a true freshman. He has been compared to Khris Middleton due to his efficient scoring on all three levels while shooting 42.5% from three. Branham also had multiple thirty point performances in big games. He should still be there when the Cavaliers pick which makes him the most likely option at pick 14.

3. Tari Eason- Sophomore

The final prospect that the Cleveland Cavaliers could target is Tari Eason of the LSU Tigers. Eason is a traditional small forward at 6’8 and 216lbs who could be valuable as a Cedi Osman replacement. He may also start though with Lauri Markannen being used more off the bench as a scorer. In the 2021-2022 season, Eason averaged 16.9 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 1 assist while shooting 52.4 % and 36% from three.

He has been compared to Patrick Williams and Al-Farouq Aminu who are known for 3-and-D ability but I believe that he has more natural scoring ability. Eason would potentially mean the end of Issac Okoro but his scoring is much needed. Eason is rising up draft boards making this selection more and more unlikely but would be a great addition to a rising Cavaliers Team.
