NBA Free Agency opens up this Thursday at 6:00 PM. There have already been some moves made by the Cavaliers this offseason. The Cavs picked up the fourth-year option on Dean Wade. They also drafted Ochai Agbaji, Khalifa Diop, Isaiah Mobley and Luke Travers. Only a few of those players may actually see some run this season. Meanwhile, the Cavaliers have a big decision to make regarding Collin Sexton and how much money they are willing to match once he hits the open market, but let’s not get into that in this article.
The Cavaliers have a few positions that they could use some help in. They are in need of another solid wing shooter/defender (even after the addition of Agbaji), a backup center, and a backup point guard. The backup point guard and center became apparent after the Cavs faced a very tough stretch of injuries last season. Losing Ricky Rubio showed just how important a creator is that can come off the bench to spell Darius Garland. The Cavs could end up re-signing Rubio as he is now a free agent, but he will likely be out until 2023 rolls around with his torn ACL. When Jarrett Allen went down, it was once again clear that the Cavs need another solid big to come off the bench and play meaningful minutes if necessary. It is uncertain if Moses Brown will return for this season, but with the addition of Isaiah Mobley, it’s not likely.
Let’s take a look at some players the Cavs could sign to fill in some of these roster holes.
