At least one member of the college football media is extremely high on Ohio State’s chances in 2024.

On Wednesday’s episode of the “Split Zone Duo” podcast, Richard Johnson laid out why he believes the Buckeyes have the chance to be the best teams of the Playoff era and it starts with their experience.

When you look at this roster what I am most interested about on defense is that — and Michigan did this to an extent last year — I think we are in the time where old teams have a decided advantage over younger teams more so than you might think. … This is an old [expletive] defense, man. … They were perfectly fine last year and then, oh by the way, they added probably the best defensive player in college football last year and one of the best players irrespective of position in college football [adding] Caleb Downs at safety.

Johnson added that Ohio State’s roster is just as impressive from a talent and depth standpoint.

This is a roster — I don’t want to say without any holes because the offensive line… But where the holes at? … This is a really, really loaded football team and I am fascinated to see what offensive coordinator Chip Kelly [remember that?] what he can do in the run game. Cause remember they have TreVeyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins… The running back room was so stacked that Dallan Hayden — who’s a good player — had to leave.

No doubt the Buckeyes are a team to look out for this upcoming season. It could be a revenge tour for Ryan Day the boys in Columbus.
