You ask, we answer. Sometimes we ask, others answer. And then other times, we ask, we answer.
Throughout the year, we will be asking and answering questions about various Ohio State teams, the players, and anything else on our collective minds of varying degrees of importance. If you have a question that you would like to ask, you can tweet us @LandGrant33 or if you need more than 280 characters, send an email HERE.
Not to go all “Lunatic Fringe” on you, but this week, we are wading into our Biggest Concerns for the upcoming Ohio State season. So, in our weekly fan survey, we asked Buckeye Nation to share their worries around position groups and games.
Get the rundown of both questions below, and then vote in the survey underneath. And, if the option you want to pick isn’t mentioned in the survey, feel free to head down to the comments and write it in.
Question 1: Which position group are you most concerned about heading into the season?
Normally when you talk about the biggest concerns surrounding a football team, your mind immediately turns to the negative, but I don’t think that is the case this offseason. Because of how many veterans left the program for the NFL following the national championship, there is an unusually high number of unknowns heading into fall camp.
Therefore, while it wouldn’t normally make a lot of sense, I think that there is ample amounts of optimism to go along with every ounce of concern connected to the team this year. So, while yes, there is more optimism around some position groups than others, I personally don’t feel any existential dread about any position room; it’s mostly just curiosity and anticipation to see what the guys we’ve only seen in spurts and flashes can do with extended playing time and responsibilities.
Question 2: Which game are you most concerned about heading into the season?
With all due respect to Ohio and Grambling, no one who would vote for those two options is either human or participating in good faith, so I eliminated them from the survey. That means that there are 10 games that you can select as the one giving you the most agita in mid-June.
Obviously, the most obvious candidates are Texas, Penn State, and Michigan, but some sneaky concerning games might be the matchups against Illinois and Rutgers. Bert has the Illini playing as well as they have in a long time, and Greg Schiano’s squad will always be well-prepared, so when you throw it in the week before The Game, there is the potential for wonkiness to happen.
