Bills Sign Veteran Wide Receiver On Thursday Afternoon

The Buffalo Bills have lost a number of players in free agency this offseason, but might have made up for all of those losses by signing a highly-touted veteran.

According to NFL insider Aaron Wilson, the Bills have signed free agent wide receiver Curtis Samuel. Per the report, it’s a three-year deal worth $30 million with $15 million guaranteed.

“#Bills signing Curtis Samuel to three-year, $30 million deal with $15 million guaranteed,” Wilson wrote.

Samuel is a versatile wide receiver who also excels in the run game. On top of his 317 receptions for 3,383 yards and 22 touchdowns through the air, he has 121 yards and seven touchdowns on the ground too.

Samuel spent the last three seasons with the Washington Commanders after spending his first four seasons with the Carolina Panthers.

Granted, Samuel has only one season with over 1,000 yards from scrimmage and has never scored more than seven touchdowns in a season. But at 27 years of age, he’s still in his prime and has the potential to enjoy a breakout year with the Bills and their strong-armed quarterback Josh Allen.

We saw what wonders the change of scenery did for Stefon Diggs – who was already good with the Minnesota Vikings and is now elite in Buffalo – and Samuel could certainly benefit in a similar way.

But the Bills still have a bunch of players that need replacing over the next few weeks on both sides of the ball. Samuel is a good start, but there’s more work to be done.
