Chargers Player Says Jim Harbaugh’s Wins vs. Ohio State ‘Don’t Count’

September 11, 2024 by The Spun

NFL Week 1: What Happened On And Off The Field (1:28)

The Ohio State-Michigan rivalry is just different. If you needed any more proof, check out some of Monday’s comments from Los Angeles Chargers running back J.K. Dobbins.

Dobbins, a former Ohio State star, is in his first season with the Chargers and he played a major role in Sunday’s 22-10 win over the Las Vegas Raiders in Jim Harbaugh’s debut as LA’s head coach.

Harbaugh never beat Ohio State during Dobbins’ time as a Buckeye, but he did win his final three matchups against Michigan’s biggest rival.

Dobbins had something to say about those three victories when Pat McAfee mentioned it to him on his “The Pat McAfee Show” Monday.

“We’re not gonna get into that because I love him. That’s my coach right now,” Dobbins said. “But, as an Ohio State person, I don’t think those games will count.”

If you’re wondering what Dobbins was referring to, he’s talking about the NCAA potentially vacating wins in light of the Connor Stalions sign stealing scandal.

“I love coach. He is a great coach. He is a winner. But, he had a person on his staff that those games might not count,” Dobbins added.

Perhaps Dobbins is playing with fire here. He’s going to want to remain in Harbaugh’s good graces after rushing for 135 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries against the Raiders yesterday.

Sunday’s win was Harbaugh’s first game in the NFL since the 2014 season with the San Francisco 49ers. He spent the next nine years running the program at the University of Michigan, his alma mater.

Harbaugh’s tenure in Ann Arbor culminated with a national championship in his final campaign.
