Chip Kelly is doing more than just running Ohio State’s offense. He’s also handling his workload as a recruiter.
Kelly, who is entering his first season as the Buckeyes’ offensive coordinator, has already offered several quarterbacks in the class of 2026, including, most recently, four-star Brandon Faizon.
Faizon, the No. 4 quarterback in the 2026 cycle per 247Sports’ Composite Rankings, is the eighth sophomore signal caller to receive an offer from Kelly.
“Coach (Chip) Kelly came to my school and watched me throw,” Faizon told Bucknuts. “I kind of knew he was going to offer. He had been telling me he just wanted to see me throw. Then I talked to him on the phone and he offered me. I was very excited.”
Faizon already holds more than 20 scholarship offers, and will reportedly look to visit Ohio State later this summer. The Buckeyes have already secured a commitment from a quarterback in the 2025 class: five-star Tavien St. Clair from Bellefontaine, Ohio.
As for Kelly, he surprised many people when he left UCLA after six seasons as head coach to become the new offensive coordinator at Ohio State.
The 60-year-old coach explained his reasoning for the move to Fox Sports’ Joel Klatt in April.
“I love coaching football… If I was gonna go somewhere it would be a school where the program shares the same values and visions that I have. When I got the opportunity to coach here, it was a dream,” Kelly said during the Buckeyes’ spring game last month.
Kelly’s first game at OSU will be against Akron on August 31.
