Chris Simms: ‘Overwhelming Majority’ Have Malik Nabers Rated Higher Than Marvin Harrison Jr.

CANTON, OH – AUGUST 04: NBC Sports analyst Chris Simms (R) speaks during a segment prior to the 2022 Pro Football Hall of Fame Game between the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Las Vegas Raiders at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium on August 04, 2022 in Canton, Ohio. NBC Sports analyst Chris Simms has always had some interesting opinions and takes. But his recent take on the debate between wide receivers Marvin Harrison Jr. and Malik Nabers ahead of tomorrow’s NFL Draft has a lot of people raising their eyebrows.

Taking to X on Wednesday, Simms declared that while he sees Harrison as “a really damn good prospect,” he sees the LSU product as “special.” Simms then asserted that an “overwhelming majority” of people he’s heard from in the NFL rate Nabers higher than Harrison.

“Marvin Harrison Jr is a really damn good prospect. Malik Nabers is special. An overwhelming majority of NFL people I’ve heard from have Nabers rated higher than Harrison,” Simms wrote.

Many NFL fans immediately called foul on this. Some pointed to the fact that Harrison is the prohibitive favorite to be the top wide receiver drafted, while others were shocked that he would imply that Harrison isn’t special.

“Another case of being caught up in the moment. Nabers definitely had a great season. MHJ had a great college career. Give me the one who has been consistently great,” one user wrote.

“It’s so easy to see why NFL GM’s get fired. Passing on MHJ for an SEC guy is peak NFL brain rot,” another declared.

“Nabers isn’t even better then Rome,” wrote a third.

However, Simms did get one noteworthy vote of confidence from longtime NFL Draft expert Todd McShay, who hinted that he’s been hearing the same thing.

“Think we’re talking to many of the same people…” McShay wrote in response to Simms.

Just because Harrison may get drafted before Nabers doesn’t necessarily mean that he’ll have the better career. Countless wide receivers have been the first off the board at their position and wound up being only second-best or worse at times.

Who will be the better wide receiver?
