Oregon is currently battling Ohio State without two of its best defensive players, but you wouldn’t be able to tell just by watching the first half of action.
The Ducks were the better team in the first half, orchestrating a pair of long touchdown drives in the second quarter. The defense, which is missing Kayvon Thibodeaux and Justin Flowe, has done just enough to slow down the Buckeyes’ ground attack with Miyan Williams and TreVeyon Henderson.
With the first half of the Ohio State-Oregon game officially in the books, ESPN’s Desmond Howard has shared his thoughts on what he’s seen thus far.
Howard thought Oregon dominated Ohio State in the first half, but he’s a bit worried that Mario Cristobal’s squad is only up by one score against Ryan Day’s crew.
“What’s scary about this game for the Ducks is that Oregon dominated the 1st half…is only up 1 score and Ryan Day makes great halftime adjustments,” Howard said.

That’s an excellent point from Howard. Last week, Ohio State was trailing 14-10 against Minnesota before eventually pulling away in the second half.
It’ll be tough for the Buckeyes to dismantle a talented team like the Ducks in the second half, especially after seeing how well quarterback Anthony Brown performed. However, the Buckeyes have to feel somewhat confident they can mount another second half comeback.
The second half of action between Ohio State and Oregon will resume on FOX.
