On Thursday night the Ohio State Buckeyes landed the top quarterback in the transfer portal.
Kansas State quarterback Will Howard announced his plans to transfer to play for the Buckeyes in 2024. While it’s a big recruiting win for Ohio State, it led to some speculation about quarterback Devin Brown.
Michigan writer Trevor McCue suggested that Ohio State had Will Howard wait until today to announce his decision in order to keep Devin Brown from transferring.
“Will Howard has long been rumored to Ohio State,” McCue said on Twitter. “The transfer window closed Tuesday, but teams in bowl games have 5 days past their game. Ohio State player’s deadline to enter the portal was yesterday. But I’m sure Howard announcing his OSU commitment today was a coincidence.”
I can tell you with 100% certainty the was discussion with the current quarterbacks provided time for Brown to leave if he desired in this portal window.
He should be commended for wanting to compete.

Ohio State insider Jeremy Birmingham made it clear that’s not the case. Brown is here to compete.
“I can tell you with 100% certainty the was discussion with the current quarterbacks provided time for Brown to leave if he desired in this portal window,” Birmingham said. He should be commended for wanting to compete.”
Ohio State fans loved the commitment from Brown.
“Regardless of how it all plays out, DB has shown to be an impressive young man,” one fan said.
“I’m a DB Stan, I really hope he gets healthy so he can truly compete. I like his tenacity and competitiveness, I also believe he has the ability to be a great QB at OSU,” said another.
Brown will have the chance to show he should be the starting quarterback of the Buckeyes once again this season.
