Ohio State quarterback Devin Brown received some social media attention on Wednesday when he cryptically posted a lengthy poem by English novelist Rudyard Kipling titled “If” amid the Buckeyes’ QB competition.
The former four-star recruit is currently locked in a battle for OSU’s starting position with a loaded room that includes Kansas State transfer Will Howard, Julian Sayin, Air Noland and Lincoln Kienholz.
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue, Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you, If all men count with you, but none too much; If you can fill the unforgiving minute With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run, Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it, And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!
According to reports out of Columbus, Howard isn’t a lock to be the Bucks’ QB1. But its also not likely that all of the team’s signal-callers remain with the program after the spring.
This past season Brown completed 16-of-28 pass attempts for 217 yards, two touchdowns and an interception after failing to beat out Kyle McCord for the top spot on the depth chart.
Head coach Ryan Day has said Brown has shown “really good leadership” over the winter though.
