Despite falling short to Michigan last weekend, Ohio State still has an outside chance of making the College Football Playoff. ESPN’s Scott Van Pelt recently explained how the Buckeyes could make it.
For starters, Ohio State will need Georgia to defeat Alabama in the SEC Championship. If the Crimson Tide pull off the upset, that would put both teams ahead of the Buckeyes in the rankings.
Ohio State also needs Washington to defeat Oregon in the Pac-12 Championship. There’s no question an 11-2 Oregon team would be ranked behind Ohio State.
The ACC Championship will also be very important. Ohio State will be rooting hard for Louisville to hand Florida State its first loss of the season. If the Seminoles remain undefeated, they’ll have to make the CFP.
Additionally, Ohio State will have to hope Oklahoma State upsets Texas in the Big 12 Championship.
The last game that matters for Ohio State is the Big Ten Championship. It might seem unethical in Columbus, but the Buckeyes will need to root for the Wolverines.
For Buckeye fans curious how they can still make the playoff, @notthefakeSVP did a great, simple breakdown last night for ya. It basically comes down to this. (Not easy, but possible) pic.twitter.com/bQIpv1F55H

It won’t be easy, but Ohio State still has some life.
Of course, this could’ve all been avoided with a win over Michigan. However, Ohio State has clearly hit a roadblock when it comes to defeating its biggest rival.
