It’s been a tough stretch for Chris Holtmann and the Ohio State Buckeyes this month and the coach’s job security is coming increasingly under fire from fans in Columbus.
After another disappointing loss to Northwestern on Saturday, Holtmann’s name began to trend with how unhappy people have been with the team’s performance:
“Do we really have to wait until the end of the season to fire Holtmann?” Mr. Ohio asked.
Do we really have to wait until the end of the season to fire Holtmann?

“Fire Holtmann now and be first to pounce on the available head coaches. Spend 10 million plus and stop screwing around,” The Torg tweeted. “This program has gone from embarrassing to irrelevant and the [Columbus Blue Jackets] already have that title in this city.”

“#OhioState basketball is a dumpster fire,” said John Sabol. “This team just flat out quit. Buckeyes still haven’t won a road game in over a year. Absolutely Embarrassing. Change was needed a couple years ago. No idea why Gene Smith didn’t make a coaching change with Chris Holtmann then…”

The Buckeyes have lost five of their last six games most of which were Big Ten matchups. Ohio State went 16-19 last year including a horrid 5-15 within the conference.
Prior to 2022, OSU had experienced pretty solid success under Holtmann but something clearly changed within the last couple seasons.
