Former All-Pro RB Reveals Another Wild Complaint His Ex-Head Coach Had

LeSean McCoy and DeSean Jackson continue to reveal some of the inner workings of the Chip Kelly era during their time with the Eagles.

On a recent episode of the pair’s “25/10 Show,” McCoy shared that Kelly didn’t like, or allow, players to wear black socks at practice — something the All-Pro running back didn’t think the coach was even serious about.

I remember one of our first practices he said ‘No black socks.’ Remember that rule? I said ‘Hold up, man. I only wear black socks and I’m Black.’ Know what I mean? I like black socks! … So we would laugh about it but I thought he was joking with me. So when we got to the field he said ‘Hey, where’s your white socks at?’ I said, ‘Coach, you’re serious about that?!’

Shady and D-Jax have been going in on their former coach since launching their new podcast. On the same episode McCoy alleged that Kelly was “uncomfortable” being around Black players.

“I never had a coach who was scared – not even scared – I’ll say uncomfortable around Black players,” LeSean said. “Let’s not hide it, right? Most of the players are Black. The NFL is dominated by Black players.”

“I had a good relationship with [Riley Cooper],” the six-time Pro Bowler shared. “Ain’t no way he’s racist… but I wanted to talk to him. Chip made it so nobody could even speak to him, no one could even talk to him. And I’m thinking like, ‘How does that even happen?’ You say all this and that, and you just say ‘sorry’ and you leave and not ever talk about it? [Kelly] hid that whole thing from us.”

Jackson also accused Kelly of not being a disciplinarian and that he was “scared” to coach him.
