Former Ohio State safety Cedrick Hawkins has committed to a new school.
After entering the transfer portal this past week, he announced on Saturday that he has committed to UCF (Central Florida). He’ll have four seasons of eligibility left.
He didn’t play in any games for the Buckeyes this past season but did play in their spring game last weekend.
Hawkins originally committed to the Buckeyes as part of their 2023 recruiting class. He was a four-star recruit and the No. 66 recruit in his home state (Florida) per 247Sports composite rankings.
He was also the No. 357 overall recruit in the country regardless of position.
Now that he’s with the UCF Knights, he’ll be closer to home and have a chance to have more playing time for the rest of his career. The Knights finished the 2023 season with a 6-7 record after losing to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in the Gasparilla Bowl.
Meanwhile, the Buckeyes finished the 2023 season with an 11-2 record. They won their first 11 games before losing their final two games against the Michigan Wolverines and the Missouri Tigers.
