One of the top prospects the class of 2021 will soon make the trek to campus.
Did you miss out on some of the latest Ohio State recruiting news while spending time with family over the weekend? Don’t fret. Land-Grant Holy Land is here to help get you caught back up on things.
Four-star DT sets up OSU visit
Ryan Day and the rest of the rock star coaching staff at Ohio State will soon play host to a long list of talented high school prospects. Still looking to add more standout prospects to their 2021 and 2022 classes, one of the many recruits who’ll be in Columbus this spring took to his Twitter page over the weekend to let the recruiting world know his upcoming college visit plans.
Heading to the Ohio State University campus on April 11 for the Buckeyes annual spring game, class of 2021 four-star IMG Academy (FL) defensive end Tunmise Adeleye will get a closer look at what OSU can offer him on and off of the football field. Racking up the frequent flyer miles, the Texas native will also make stops at Florida (March 7), Alabama (March 22-25), Oklahoma (March 26-28) and Texas A&M (April 18).
Announcing a final six — including the aforementioned programs and LSU — back in December, Ohio State made the list for more than a few reasons.
“Ohio State made the cut for its blend of great education, and the coaching staffs ability to develop elite defensive linemen. In addition, coach Mattison has developed an amazing relationship with my family so far which helped them make the list as well,” the 6-foot-3 260-pounder told Land-Grant Holy Land soon after he released his potential landing spots.
Suiting up for Obra D. Thompkins High School (TX) as a junior before transferring to IMG Academy (FL), Adeleye finished his season off with 50 total tackles and four quarterback sacks to help the Falcons finish the year with a final record of 11-2.
Currently coming in as the No. 3 strong-side defensive end and 43rd overall prospect in the entire class of 2021, 247Sports recruiting analyst Gabe Brooks had the following to say about what Adeleye could add to a college roster.
“Stout defensive lineman who could potentially provide position flexibility. Thick core and thin-ankled. Possesses adequate to above average height and solid build. Owns virtually college-ready size as a four-man end, but could slide inside with added bulk. Flashes impressive strength at the point of attack. A bull in the phone booth who can drive offensive linemen into the pocket. Consistently gets hands inside blockers to steer where he wants. Shows power to punch and shed in the run game. Plays with good pad level and leverage. Strong tackler and closes fast in pursuit. Improve explosiveness as a junior. Active, violent hands, but still learning how to use them. Can be more consistent in get-off quickness. Can also improve body control, particularly in pursuit. Potentially position- and scheme-versatile defensive lineman who could fit multiple roles and fronts. Legitimate high-major recruit with long-term potential to reach top half of the NFL draft.”
Want to see what Tunmise Adeleye could potentially add to Larry Johnson’s defensive line rotation? Get a small glimpse of Adeleye’s talents with these highlights of him in action from this past season:
- Columbus native Desmond Watson, a 2021 guard from DeSales, visited Ohio State on Sunday for the Buckeyes match-up with the Wolverines of Michigan, per Zach Fleer of 270Hoops. Watson, who has seen his recruitment heat up recently, holds offers from Ohio University, and Stetson.
- Four-star class of 2022 shooting guard Roddy Gayle Jr. also visited OSU for the Buckeyes runaway win over the Wolverines. A top-50 prospect in his class, Gayle Jr. is putting together a solid early offer list. Alabama, Georgia, and Oklahoma are just a few of the programs currently pursuing the 6-foot-4 soon-to-be-junior.
