Four-star QB from Texas picks up an offer from Ohio State

The Buckeyes are the latest program to jump into the mix for a blue-chip prospect from the state of Texas.

After Ohio State took care of business on the gridiron against Maryland last week, the Buckeyes were idle this weekend. Despite the bye week, the coaching staff remained active on the recruiting trail as they sent out a new offer and checked out a few high school football games on Friday night that featured a handful of top targets.

Arnold adds Buckeye offer

Coming into Friday, Ohio State’s quarterback pursuit in the 2023 class was centered around three guys that were already on the receiving end of an offer from the Buckeyes and are still uncommitted. Those three were five-star quarterback Nicholaus Iamaleava of Warren (CA), five-star quarterback Dante Moore of Martin Luther King (MI), and four-star quarterback Dylan Lonergan of Brookwood (GA).

Now, a new name has officially entered the picture as Ohio State sent out an offer to four-star quarterback Jackson Arnold of Guyer (TX) on Saturday.

Arnold is currently slotted as the No. 14 quarterback in the class and is just inside of the Top 250 prospects in next year’s class. In the always talented state of Texas, Arnold finds himself as the 36th highest graded prospect from the Lone Star State with plenty of time to make a case for an even higher ranking in the future.

The 6-foot-1, 195-pounder holds offers from Arkansas, Baylor, Cincinnati, Notre Dame, Michigan State, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, SMU, TCU, Tennessee, and more. With the Buckeyes now in the mix for Arnold, Ohio State will now shift their attention to building a relationship with the Texas standout and ultimately aim to bring the talented quarterback to Columbus to check out what the program has to offer.

Miller sets Ohio State visit

As we move past the mid-way point of October, Ohio State’s 2022 recruiting class has yet to add a true defensive lineman to the haul that currently sits as the seventh-highest ranked class in the country. It’s still the same usual suspects at the position, and it’s a group that the Buckeyes have been focusing on for quite some time.

One of those includes four-star defensive lineman Christen Miller of Cedar Grove (GA). Despite the general consensus favoring the likes of Georgia and USC in the pursuit of Miller, the Buckeyes seem to be in this race for the long haul.

Ohio State already had the benefit of hosting Miller, the No. 111 overall player in the country, on an official visit just one month ago, So, it was definitely noteworthy when Miller revealed on Twitter that he would be making another visit, this time on his own dime, to Columbus on Oct. 30 when the Buckeyes will take on Penn State.
