Handful of high majors on 2027 guard

November 24, 2025 by Zags Blog

Miami, Fla.–Playing with an abundance of swagger and contagious two-way energy, Class of 2027 Montverde Academy (FL) guard O”Neal Delancy displayed a shot-making prowess and confrontational defense during the Made Hoops Miami Tip Off.

A transcedent national stock riser in the 2027 class, the 6-foot-2, 170-pound guard recently visited both Ohio State and University of Florida.

While he is still relatively wide open in his recruitment, Delancy is hearing from a handful ot high major programs at a consistent pace.

“Ohio State, Florida State, Florida, Miami, Virginia Tech, Maryland, South Florida, Mississippi State, Houston, and LSU,” said Delancy, who most recently visited Ohio State.

Delancy loved his recent visit to Florida, calling it “surreal.”

While Florida State was initially the program jockeying for front runner position in his recruitment, as the new staff appeared to priorize him this past summer, Delancy isn’t leaning anywhere in particular at the moment.

Delancy authored a sublime showing playing for the Florida Rebels on the EYBL circuit this summer, as his deft long range shooting and all around game prospered during Peach Jam.

A St. Petersburg, Fla. native, Delancy generated buzz and headlines at the traditionally exposure-rich event.

During the opening days of the event, Delancy morphed into the mad bomber.

He turned a 35-point game on the strength of a scalding 8-for-12 from 3-point range en route to a 75-56 win over Nightrydas in 16U action.

The high octane, naturally wired to score guard averaged 24.8 points, 4.8 boards and 3.5 assists throug a notable four game stretch at Peach Jam, shooting at a 43.2 percent from beyond the arc.

After helping spearhead Gibbs HS (St. Petersburg, Fla.) to berth in the 4A State title game, Delancy transferred to Montverde Academy in the Central Florida area.

“My role on this team is to play the one and the two-guard position at a high level and be a great on ball defender,” Delancy said.
