You ask, we answer. Sometimes we ask, others answer. And then other times, we ask, we answer.
From now until preseason camp starts in August, Land-Grant Holy Land will be writing articles around a different theme every week. This week is all about what we would do if we were in charge of our favorite position group, team, conference, or sport. You can catch up on all of the Theme Week content here and all of our ”If I Was in Charge” articles here.
Throughout the year, we will be asking and answering questions about various Ohio State teams, the players, and anything else on our collective minds of varying degrees of importance. If you have a question that you would like to ask, you can tweet us @LandGrant33 or if you need more than 280 characters, send an email HERE.
If you have been paying attention to the major discussions around the world of Ohio State football in the past week or so, you know that a lot of people have very big feelings about when the Buckeyes play their football games. So, for this week’s fan survey, we are taking it directly to Buckeye Nation to see what they would do if they had the opportunity to make some key changes to the Big Ten and Ohio State’s media rights deal.
Our Michael Citro already voiced his opinion, now it’s your turn. So, check out the questions and vote in the survey below. If you want to expand on your thoughts or offer an idea not included in the questions, feel free to drop down to the comments at the bottom of the page.
Check back with LGHL this weekend, when we will share the results from this week’s survey.
Question 1: If you were in charge, what would Ohio State’s Big Noon schedule look like?
From a practical standpoint, Big Noon games aren’t going away for the Buckeyes. I do think that fans have the ability to bully Fox to not put every game in the early window, but the media company spent waaaaaaaaaaaaay too much money to not have the Big Ten’s biggest brand in the slot that they think is best for their business.
However, that’s not the question at hand. We want to know how you would change OSU’s relationship with noon games if you were in charge. You can keep the cash flowing and maintain the status quo, you can put a cap on how many 12 p.m. kickoffs the Buckeyes have, you can limit nooners to presumed blowouts, or you can excise Big Noon from the realm of possibilities.
Of course, if you have another idea, please write it in below in the comments.
Question 2: If you were in charge, what would the Big Ten and Ohio State’s media deal look like?
While tons of Buckeye fans are pretty ticked off at Fox right now over the Big Noon fiasco, it wasn’t that long ago that most of those same fans (and likely many more) were also pretty pissed at ESPN for other slights, both real and imagined.
So, if you were in charge of the conference and/or university’s media rights deals, what would they look like? Would you keep the current mix of broadcast partners intact? Would you switch back to the worldwide leader in sports?
Or, would you go old-school and require every game to be broadcast on a broadcast network that you can access simply with an antenna? Better yet, would you have the B1G and/or OSU start up its own streaming service and have every game broadcast there, so you never had to guess where you would have to watch the games that week?
All options are on the table, what say you?
