We’re not sure if Kyle McCord was watching the Cotton Bowl Classic between Ohio State and Missouri on Friday night. If he was though, he probably felt vindicated.
Ohio State’s offense struggled mightily without McCord under center, throwing for just 106 yards in four quarters. It’s worth noting that Devin Brown left the game early with an ankle sprain.
If McCord was still the starting quarterback for the Buckeyes, things would’ve been different for Ryan Day’s squad. We’re talking about a signal-caller who had 3,170 passing yards, 24 touchdowns and just six interceptions this season.
When the dust settled, however, McCord felt it was best for him to enter the transfer portal this December.
College football fans believe Ohio State messed up its quarterback room by not committing to McCord for the 2024 season.

“Kyle McCord was a more efficient passer than Heisman runner-up Michael Penix Jr., but the team ran him out of town to Syracuse after losing one game,” RedditCFB tweeted. “Oops lol.”

Another person wrote, “Hear me out, maybe Kyle McCord wasn’t the problem? Maybe you just lost in the last minute on the road to another great team? And maybe if you hadn’t scapegoated him, you would’ve finished 12-1 and perhaps in the top 5?”

McCord will be Syracuse’s starting quarterback next season.
Ohio State, meanwhile, is still searching the transfer portal for an answer.
