The Ohio State Buckeyes are returning to practice for the first time since former quarterback Dwayne Haskins lost his life on Saturday. Current quarterback C.J. Stroud is paying special tribute to the Buckeye legend.
On Monday, Ohio State posted a photo of Stroud wearing a special version of his No. 7 jersey. Written into the digit are two words: “LLDH7” and “RIH Simba” – references to Haskins’ nicknames while he was with the Buckeyes.
“Your legacy will live on big bro,” Stroud said in a retweet.
The post has gone viral with over 11,000 likes and 1,000 retweets in less than two hours. The comments are extremely wholesome as well.
Ohio State fans are calling on Stroud to win the Heisman Trophy and/or the national championship and dedicate it to Haskins’ memory. Others believe the number should be retired after this season:

“National Championship is the best way to honor Dwayne this year. Let’s get it done boys,” one fan replied.
“You guys should retire the #7 to honor Haskins,” another fan wrote.
“Buckeyes will be playing for Dwayne this year and I feel sorry for their opps,” wrote a third.
The Ohio State Buckeyes were already going to be top contenders for the national title before Haskins’ tragic passing. But now the team’s motivation is going to be sky-high for the entire year.
Big Ten teams beware: Ohio State are playing for more than just the win this year.
