Oregon is on the verge of taking the college football world by storm if the 12th-ranked Ducks can maintain their lead over Ohio State in the second half.
Oregon began the day on a sour note. Star edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux and linebacker Justin Flowe did not play on Saturday because of injuries, putting the Ducks in a bad spot. Oregon overcame the adversity in a hurry though.
The Ducks defense came to play on Saturday, holding the Ohio State offense to just seven points in the first half. Oregon’s offense, meanwhile, scored twice in the second quarter to take a 14-7 lead. It could have been more had the refs not gotten involved.
The Ducks found themselves in Ohio State territory when quarterback Anthony Brown completed a ball over the middle to one of his receivers for a big gain. The play was called back because of a holding call on Oregon tight end Terrance Ferguson. The call was questionable, at best.

This was clearly a bad call. Ohio State defensive end Jack Sawyer beat Ferguson off the line and then gripped Ferguson’s helmet and dragged him to the ground. Somehow, the refs thought it was a penalty on Ferguson.
The Ducks’ drive stalled and they were forced to punt. Had the refs not thrown a flag, Oregon would have at least been in field-goal range.
Regardless, the Ducks looked like the better team in the first half of Saturday’s game. Can No. 12 Oregon pull off the shocking upset over No. 3 Ohio State?
