Mark Titus Show.
Consider Mark Titus a fan of Ohio State’s latest decision on interim head coach Jake Diebler.
Per basketball analyst Jeff Goodman, the Buckeyes are targeting Diebler for their permanent job with the two sides negotiating to have his interim tag lifted.
Diebler led OSU to a 6-2 record (including five straight wins and a victory over the No. 2 Boilermakers) after taking over for the departed Chris Holtmann and Titus appears to really like the sound of him being the full-time coach in Columbus.
“Hell yeah, I love love love this,” the Barstool Sports host, who played at Ohio State, said. “Thought initially we’d take a big swing but Jake making chicken salad out of this team down the stretch made it undeniable it had to be him. The juice was back in the program this past month and that’s all you can really ask for.”
Diebler’s eight-game stretch to end the season helped propel the Bucks back into the NCAA Tournament conversation as a bubble team. Prior to his manning the sideline Ohio State was 14-11 with a 4-10 mark in the Big Ten.
A former Valparaiso player and an Ohio native, Diebler started his coaching career at his alma mater in 2010 where he spent four seasons on the Beacons staff before becoming video coordinator at OSU. He spent the next three years in that role before taking an assistant job at Vanderbilt and eventually returning to The Arch City on Chris Holtmann’s staff.
The Buckeyes now await their fate on a pressure-packed Selection Sunday.
