Marvin Harrison Jr. will move west to begin his NFL career with the Arizona Cardinals. The former Ohio State superstar said he’ll continue to keep tabs on his alma mater.
Speaking to reporters before last week’s draft, Harrison said he’s “super happy” for his Buckeyes teammates and will cheer for them while starting his pro journey.
“I hope they go on and accomplish all their dreams and goals as a team,” Harrison said, per Eleven Warriors. “I’m sure they want to beat the team up north, like every year, and then win a national championship. So, I’ll be rooting for them from where I’m at.”
Harrison felt it was time to turn pro after a dominant junior year at Ohio State, but it wasn’t easy to leave.
“I love Columbus,” he said. “The city, the people, the fans are awesome. I’m definitely going to miss them. I miss my teammates and my coaches already.”
Harrison ended his Ohio State career with back-to-back losses to Michigan, but the Buckeyes enter 2024 as a prominent championship contender behind strong transfer and recruiting hauls.
On draft night, Buckeyes head coach Ryan Day predicted the team that selected Harrison would receive a “franchise player.” The Cardinals will hope he’s right.
Arizona made Harrison the first non-quarterback off the board last Thursday. The No. 4 overall pick will join an offense that’s had one 1,000-yard receiver (DeAndre Hopkins) in the last six seasons.
Meanwhile, Ohio State must replace a first-round wideout for the third straight season. Emeka Egbuka returns to Columbus to lead a room that added five-star recruit Jeremiah Smith.
