Maurice Clarett Shares Message For Ryan Day After Caleb Downs Transfer

Ohio State added another game-changer to its roster this weekend, landing a commitment from Alabama transfer Caleb Downs.

Even though former Ohio State running back Maurice Clarett has been critical of Ryan Day over the past two months, he actually gave him a compliment on Friday night.

Clarett applauded Day for being aggressive in the transfer portal. He did, however, admit that it puts more pressure on Day to lead the Buckeyes to a national title next season.

“Yeah Boy… Ryan Day gearing up for November,” Clarett wrote. “He started leaning on those collectives for that bread. Keep pushing your weight around RD. Go ahead win it all and get your contract extension. We see what you doing…. We ain’t trying to hear none of those Mike McCarthy post game speeches next season. Need to be hoisting the trophy next year. Looks like it will be us vs Texas.”

Obviously, Ohio State has to beat Michigan next season in order for Day to feel good about his job security. That might not be enough though.

The Buckeyes have the talent to compete against any program, especially if quarterback Will Howard plays up to his potential.

It’s up to Day to make sure Ohio State reaches its expectations. Anything less won’t be tolerated in Columbus.
