Urban Meyer made his NFL preseason debut on Saturday night, as his Jacksonville Jaguars took on the Cleveland Browns.
The former Ohio State Buckeyes and Florida Gators head coach didn’t lose many games at the college level. That will not be the case in the NFL.
Jacksonville lost to Cleveland, 23-13, to open the preseason schedule.
While it was just the preseason, it’s clear that the Jaguars have their work cut out for them moving forward. After all, Jacksonville is coming off a No. 1 overall pick season in 2020.
Still, it was fun for fans to see Meyer at the professional level.

Of course, there were already some critics. Meyer was called out for taking timeouts late in a loss.
I’m starting to think the NFL may not be for Urban Meyer. Actually thought that in January. https://t.co/2EDXXTa6UA

Meyer was mostly frustrated by his team’s performance on offense.
“I don’t like slow offenses. . . . I don’t wanna be one of those slow, wallowing offenses,” Meyer said. “And we’ll get that fixed. . . . We’ve just got to get it and go, go, go.”
Meyer’s offenses moved incredibly fast at the college level. He wants to implement that with the Jaguars.
Still, Meyer has plenty of time to learn.
“The newness to me is the length of the season,” Meyer said. “I keep hearing that over and over again. I’m learning.”
One of Meyer’s most notable offseason signings, former quarterback Tim Tebow, went viral on social media for his “block” attempt.

It’s clear that all eyes will be on Meyer, Tebow and the rest of the Jaguars moving forward.
Jacksonville is set to open the 2021 regular season on Sunday, Sept. 12 against the Houston Texans.
