Ohio State is 5-0 on the season despite having not played its ‘A’ game for four quarters yet.
On one hand, optimistic Buckeyes fans might be feeling that when the team finally does put it all together, it will really take off. On the other hand, some fans are nervous about the inconsistency heading into this weekend’s game at Purdue.
The Boilermakers are 2-4 on the season but in the last two weeks have hung 44 points on Illinois in a win and nearly taken down Iowa on the road. Ohio State also has a history of slipping up in West Lafayette, most notably in 2018 when they lost 49-20, costing themselves a shot at the College Football Playoff.
“There’s a lot of strange things that have happened there,” head coach Ryan Day said this week, via Eleven Warriors. “…We’re certainly not content around here, I can tell you that. We’re hungry.”
Not surprisingly, many OSU fans are expressing their concerns on social media.
Great, expect a run heavy first half with little production and like a 31-13 win lol

He better! The Buckeyes have went to West Lafayette with far superior teams and have gotten beaten handily! 2018 most recent! The Buckeyes were undefeated and beat by David Blough! pic.twitter.com/mKZAWklQRO

In addition to losing at Purdue five years ago, Ohio State has also fallen to the Boilermakers on the road in 2000, 2004, 2009 and 2011 and barely survived at Ross-Ade Stadium during its national championship season in 2002.
Ohio State and Purdue will kick off at noon ET Saturday on Peacock.
Win that, and the Buckeyes will be 6-0 coming home for their showdown against Penn State on Oct. 21.
