Ohio State Football Announces New Policies For Fans

Ohio State is roughly a month away from its home opener against Oregon. With that showdown approaching fairly soon, the school has released its updated fan policies for the 2021 season.

Last year, the Buckeyes were unable to have fans at Ohio Stadium due to COVID-19 concerns. Thankfully, that won’t be the case this fall.

Even though fans will be back in the Horseshoe for this fall, that doesn’t mean COVID-19 is gone. On Tuesday, the Buckeyes announced updated policies that coincide with the latest health guidelines from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The main takeaway is that fans will be required to wear face coverings in any indoor space. However, fans who are fully vaccinated don’t have to wear masks outdoors.

“Ohio State University updated its mask protocols last week to enhance the health and safety of the campus community and to reflect updated guidance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Students, faculty, staff and visitors to all Ohio State campuses and medical facilities are required to wear masks indoors, regardless of vaccination status,” the school said in a statement. “Masks are required outdoors for unvaccinated individuals when they cannot maintain physical distancing. Vaccinated people are not required to mask outdoors.”

Another major takeaway from the updated fan policies is that cash will not be accepted at upcoming games. Fans can pay with Apple Pay/Google Pay, credit or debit.

Hopefully, these policies will allow Ohio State to minimize the spread of COVID-19 this fall.
