Ohio State continued a busy spring recruiting weekend.
Safety Deshawn Stewart committed to the Buckeyes on Sunday. The four-star prospect joins wide receiver De’zie Jones, defensive end London Merritt, and linebacker Tarvos Alford as the fourth class of 2025 recruit to join the Big Ten program over the last two days.
“Beyond blessed to be in this position,” Stewart wrote. “Can’t imagine how proud my father is up there looking down upon me. This is for you. Let’s keep working.”
Stewart received offers from Penn State, Cincinnati, and Wisconsin, among other schools, before choosing Ohio State. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound defender is the No. 24 safety in next year’s recruiting class, per 247Sports.
“It means everything to me,” Stewart told Eleven Warriors in January after receiving the offer from Ohio State. “Watching them growing up, you see all the great players come out of there. The offer means a whole lot. They said they see potential in me, and think I’m a h*ll of a player. They see my lift and my speed, and they learned how smart I was throughout the game. They said they loved that about me.”
Stewart also marks Ohio State’s second recruit from the same New Jersey high school. Jones, his teammate at Wayne’s DePaul Catholic, committed on Saturday.
“Words cant explain how blessed I am with the opportunity to become a Buckeye,” Jones wrote. “With a long talk with coach [Brian] Hartline and the staff, I’m so grateful to be a part of the Buckeye family.”
Stewart is Ohio State’s 11th commit from the class of 2025. He joins a stacked group led by five-star cornerbacks Devin Sanchez and Na’eem Offord.
