One of the best coaches in Ohio State history was involved in a serious car accident on Tuesday morning.
Longtime Ohio State Buckeyes wrestling coach Tom Ryan, who led the program to a national championship in 2015, was reportedly involved in a serious car accident.
“Prayers to the great Tom Ryan. One of the greatest Buckeyes. Was involved in an auto accident,” Buckeye Scoop reported on Tuesday morning.
Ohio State has since announced that Ryan suffered non-life threatening injuries.
“Tom Ryan was involved in a car crash this morning as he was driving to campus. His injuries are non-life threatening and no one else was injured,” Jerod Smalley reported.
Ryan, who graduated from Iowa, has a 213-68 record as Ohio State’s head coach. He was inducted into the Buckeyes Hall of Fame in 2023.
Ohio State won the national title under Ryan in 2015 and finished as national title runner-ups in 2008, 2009, 2017, 2018 and 2019. He’s a two-time NCAA Coach of the Year and a three-time Big Ten Coach of the Year.
Our thoughts are with him and his family as he recovers from his injuries on Tuesday.
