Indiana native Jerquaden Guilford is set to announce his commitment Friday evening.
A fairly slow week regarding recruiting news, Ohio State is still hunting the rest of their 2026 class, and will see some news later today regarding a player they have been in on for sometime now. The seventh-ranked class per 247Sports, the Buckeyes have spaces up for grabs and are looking to have those filled sooner rather than later.
Still some needs, it will be interesting to see where the coaching staff pivots for future players.
Buckeye target set to announce decision this evening
Like every recruiting class led by position coach Brian Hartline, once again the 2026 haul of wide receivers is among the best in country.
Four players any program would covet, the Buckeyes are reloading, and guys like Chris Henry Jr. and Kayden Dixon-Wyatt jump off the page as the two higher-ranked players committed. With promising prospects like Jaeden Ricketts and Brock Boyd rounding out the other two, the staff has done their job and then some, but there’s potential for one more piece.
Set to announce his commitment later this evening, Indiana native Jerquaden Guilford will announce from a group of just four contenders. The No. 315 player nationally, 50th best receiver and the top player in Indiana per the 247Sports Composite, Ohio State is joined by Indiana, Michigan, and Ole Miss as the finalists.
A commitment date set originally for late June, it was the Buckeyes that had the momentum for Guilford, but taking to social media the day of those original plans to set a new date gave thought that maybe another program came in late with a better NIL package. Now time for his destination to be revealed, it’s anybody’s guess as to where he chooses to go.
With the four players committed as mentioned, Ohio State’s depth is solid regardless of what happens. At 20 commits in their class currently, the Buckeyes will likely only add four to five guys at most, and Guilford would be one of them if he wants in. Not much more time to wait, Ohio State will learn whether or not this receiver class stays at four or grows to five by the end of the day.
Three-star receiver Jerquaden Guilford tells 247Sports he will commit on Friday, July 18 at 5:30 pm ET.

2027 quarterback narrows his top schools down to five
Looking at the 2027 class, Ohio State has just two players committed, but one of those pieces is a major key to the group overall thanks to Brady Edmunds. The No. 67 player nationally and the sixth best signal caller per the 247Sports Composite, the Buckeyes have had their quarterback of the class committed for nearly a year, and has filled in as the leader of the class very well.
Peer recruiting being a specialty of his, the staff is pleased with who they have locked in, but other names are still keeping Ohio State among their favorites. Always going to impress top players at the position thanks to Ryan Day and the success of his quarterbacks over the years, on Thursday the Buckeyes learned they are still in the mix for another 2027 four-star in Teddy Jarrard.
The No. 194 player nationally and 15th ranked at his position per the 247Sports Composite, the Georgia native is now down to just five schools he is still considering. Making the cut, Ohio State was joined by Georgia, Michigan, Notre Dame, and Penn State.
With the Buckeyes having Edmunds, it does seem unlikely there’s much traction here in regard to how much attention Ohio State will give, but in an ever-changing recruiting realm of college football, at least the Buckeyes continue to be seen as one of the top programs when it comes to quarterback development.
