Urban Meyer has kept out of the public eye since his disastrous departure from the Jacksonville Jaguars. But now a few months after he was fired in December 2021, the former college coach/broadcast analyst may be considering a return to one of his former gigs.
Ohio State insider Austin Ward believes Meyer will ultimately re-sign with Fox Sports as a college football analyst.
“I do think Urban [Meyer] will be back in college football, at least as an analyst sometime soon,” Ward said on the Letterman Live podcast. “I think he’ll be returning to Fox.
“I can’t say that it’s done. I think it’s gonna happen again and I don’t think he ever should have left in the first place. He was good and I think they miss that. There was a drop-odd pretty significantly to Bob Stoops.”
After retiring as Ohio State’s head coach in 2019, Meyer took a TV job as an analyst for Fox Sports’ weekly pregame show, Big Noon Kickoff. The three-time National Champion was widely considered a solid addition to the team.
Meyer’s reputation took a major hit as he was pinned with controversy after controversy during his short-lived NFL coaching career. That said, his big-name presence could be enough for Fox to take another shot on their former employee.
