Ohio State Named The No. 1 Running Back Room In College Football

Ohio State has become known for producing standout wide receivers, but the Buckeyes have had their fair share of great running backs recently as well.

The OSU running back room should be quite loaded in 2024, so much so that one analyst thinks its the top running back corps in the country.

Pro Football Focus’ Max Chadwick put Ohio State atop his list of the top running back units in America, calling it an “easy” choice to make.

The reason why the Buckeyes were a no-brainer, Chadwick explained, was the 1-2 punch of Quinshon Judkins and TreVeyon Henderson.

“Ohio State is the only school that features two running backs who made the top 10 of my 2024 running back rankings, making it the easy choice to lead this list,” Chadwick wrote.

Judkins transferred in from Ole Miss this offseason. In his two seasons with the Rebels, the 6-foot, 219-pound Pike Road, Ala. native rushed for 2,725 yards and 31 touchdowns in 26 games.

The SEC Freshman of the Year in 2022, Judkins was a first-team all-league performer in both campaigns and became the first SEC running back since Herschel Walker to rush for 15 or more touchdowns in his first two seasons.

Henderson, who is entering his fourth season with the Buckeyes, has dealt with injuries the last two years, but still rushed for 926 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2023. For his career, he’s gained 2,745 yards and scored 32 touchdowns on the ground.

Four-star freshman James Peoples is the “cherry on top” of the group, per Chadwick, and fellow 2024 recruit Sam Williams-Dixon will also look to push for playing time this fall.
