Ohio State, Northwestern Are Officially Playing At Wrigley Field

Wrigley Field will host two Big Ten football matchups this fall.

Northwestern revealed its full football schedule for the 2024 season. On Saturday, Nov. 16, the Wildcats will play Ohio State at the iconic MLB stadium.

Northwestern will also conclude its regular season at Wrigley Field two weeks later against Illinois.

The school will play home games at alternative venues over the next two seasons while Ryan Field undergoes renovations. Northwestern will hold its first five home games at a temporary on-campus facility in Evanston.

For the first time in 72 years, Northwestern went to Wrigley Field to play Illinois in 2010. The Wildcats returned in 2021 to play Purdue and suffered a 10-7 loss to Iowa at the Chicago Cubs’ home last November.

On the other hand, Ohio State has not played at any baseball stadium since opposing Fresno State at Angel Stadium 30 years ago.

According to The Columbus Dispatch, Northwestern informed season ticket holders of plans to play at Wrigley Field. They also considered Soldier Field for the Ohio State game but faced potential scheduling conflicts with the Chicago Bears.

The Cubs hope to bring playoff baseball to Wrigley Field this fall, but this year’s World Series will end no later than Nov. 2.

Ohio State is 21-1 with a 10-game winning streak against Northwestern. The Wildcats will look to pull off a massive upset and notch their first victory over the Buckeyes since 2004.
