Earlier this Wednesday, it was announced that actor/comedian Richard Lewis passed away at the age of 76. Outside of his acting career, he was an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes.
With that said, Ohio State quarterback Devin Brown posted a heartfelt message on X in honor of Lewis.
“I always appreciated the words of encouragement,” Brown wrote on social media. “RIP Richard Lewis.”
Brown also shared screenshots of Lewis sending him kind words before Ohio State games.
Lewis graduated from Ohio State in 1969 with a degree in marketing. In a profile with The Athletic’s Bill Shea, he discussed his hatred for Michigan.
“I have such a hatred for that institution. I have never missed an (Ohio State-Michigan) game since I was 17,” Lewis said. “People who go to Ohio State have such a disdain for the Wolverines. Is this like a cult? No, there’s a big history involved with these two teams. Until the day I die, I will want to crush that team up north. I never put the letter M on anything.”
Just like most Ohio State fans, Lewis said he gets pleasure out of rooting against Michigan.
Our thoughts are with Lewis’ loved ones.
