Highly-touted quarterback prospect Quinn Ewers stunned the world of college football just a few weeks ago when he announced that he would forego his high school senior season and enroll early at Ohio State. This weekend, his arrival to the university and to the Buckeyes football program became official.
According to Dan Hope of Eleven Warriors and confirmed by Ohio State, Ewers is enrolled in classes for this upcoming fall and is officially a member of the football team. The Buckeyes also revealed that their newest quarterback will wear the No. 3.
Ewers just arrived in Columbus this Saturday after completing his high school graduation requirements, so it’s been a whirlwind couple of weeks for the 18-year-old. He’s unlikely to factor into Ohio State’s quarterback competition right away, but will be able to gain plenty of valuable information about what it takes to succeed at the college level.
Of course, Buckeyes fans are hoping to catch a glimpse of Ewers as soon as this fall.

Ewers decision to reclassify to the class of 2020 is ground-breaking, given that he’s already signed his first endorsement deal with Holy Kombucha, which will allow him to profit off of his name, image and likeness. When he explained why he wanted to enroll early at Ohio State, he cited both financial and football reasons.
“…I’ve decided it’s time for me to enroll at Ohio State and begin my career as a Buckeye,” Ewers said on Twitter.
“This is not just a financial decision; this is about what is best for my football career. At 18, and with one final class about to be completed to earn my high-school degree, I feel it’s time to get the jump on my college career that is available to me. I am eager to start learning from Coach Day and the rest of the coaching staff.”
Ewers is one of the most talented and well-regarded college football quarterback prospects in recent memory, so expectations for his career in Columbus will be high. The next step is for the Buckeyes to figure out how they want to use him this upcoming year as he gets acclimated to the program.
