Ohio State Reportedly Emerging As ‘Top School’ For 5-Star Transfer

With the college football regular season in the books, the transfer portal is about to open for business.

Players can officially enter the portal on Dec. 9, the first day of the NCAA winter transfer window. One player who will reportedly become available when the window opens is Texas Tech five-star freshman wide receiver Micah Hudson.

The No. 4 wide receiver and No. 16 overall prospect in the 2024 class, according to 247Sports’ Composite Rankings, Hudson missed the first four games of his freshman campaign with an injury. When he did see the field, the Temple (Tex.) Lake Belton product finished with eight receptions for 123 yards.

247Sports’ Chris Hummer published an article Monday outlining the top schools to keep an eye on for Hudson. In total, Hummer named eight schools to watch, including Ohio State.

Besides the Buckeyes, he lists LSU, Ole Miss, Oregon, SMU, Tennessee, Texas and Texas A&M.

“The Buckeyes are an interesting team to have on the radar,” Hummer wrote. “They offered Hudson out of high school and have arguably the strongest wide receiver development history in the nation. Emeka Egbuka will move on from Columbus this year, so there are some snaps to scoop up.”

Described as a “dynamic, high-volume playmaker who can play outside or from the slot,” Hudson was a major talent in the 2024 cycle. The opportunity to pair him with Jeremiah Smith, the No. 1 wide receiver in the class, might prove enticing for Ohio State.

Smith is already a star for the Buckeyes, having caught 57 passes for 934 yards and 10 touchdowns in his first season in Columbus. He has two more years of college football ahead of him, and rest assured Ohio State will make sure he is well-compensated with NIL during that time.

It’s too early in Hudson’s transfer recruitment to know exactly where the current No. 3 projected player in the portal will go, but he certainly seems like a fit with the Buckeyes.
