After two seasons at Ohio State, running back Dallan Hayden has entered the transfer portal. One of the most notable stops on his transfer journey is set to be Deion Sanders’ stomping grounds.
According to On3 Sports’ Steve Wiltfong, Hayden has scheduled a visit at Colorado and will meet with Coach Prime. He will have two years of eligibility remaining.
When Wiltfong asked Hayden what he’s looking for in a team, Hayden said it’s “Just the opportunity to be the guy.”
Coming out of high school, 247Sports rated Hayden as a four-star prospect and the No. 226 prospect in the recruiting class. He was the No. 19 running back in the nation and the No. 7 player from the state of Tennessee.
As a freshman in 2022, Hayden had 553 rushing yards (third on the team behind Miyan Williams and TreVeyon Henderson) and five touchdowns. But this past year he was limited to just 19 carries in three games.
Hayden could find exactly what he’s looking for in Colorado as there’s an opening at running back on the Buffaloes.
Then again, Deion Sanders didn’t exactly put a ton of stock into the running back position last year. None of his running backs had even 80 carries and his top two backs combined for just 640 yards on the ground.
If Hayden wants to be “the guy,” he’s going to need to hear something from Coach Prime that will convince him that he’ll be a big part of the offense next season.
