Ohio State’s Jeremiah Smith Made Another Jaw-Dropping Catch This Friday

April 13, 2024 by The Spun

TALLAHASSEE, FLORIDA – DECEMBER 07: Wide Receiver Jeremiah Smith #4 of the Chaminade-Madonna Lions on a catch and run during the FHSAA Class1M Football State Championship game against the Clearwater Central Catholic Marauders at Bragg Memorial Stadium on Ken Riley Field on the campus of Florida A&M University on December 7, 2023 in Tallahassee, Florida. Smith is a 5-star Wide Receiver recruit and the #1 collegiate prospect in the nation. He has committed to the Ohio State Buckeyes. The Lions defeated the Marauders 56 to 0. If practice is any indication, Jeremiah Smith looks poised to be Ohio State’s next great wide receiver.

The program has been “WRU” over the last several years and Smith is trying to continue that legacy.

During spring practice on Friday, he made a crazy one-handed catch over Buckeyes star cornerback Denzel Burke.

By the look of it, he was able to get one foot down in the end zone. Had this been an actual game, he would’ve scored a touchdown.

This is the second time in the last week that he’s been caught on video making a crazy catch during practice. Just last Saturday, the Buckeyes’ official Twitter account for football released a video of an acrobatic catch from Smith.

If he’s able to have a strong spring game and then follow that up with a great summer camp, there’s a chance he could start as a freshman in the fall.

Smith was the top recruit in the nation for the 2024 recruiting class, per 247Sports composite rankings. It’s early but we’re seeing why that was the case.

The Buckeyes’ spring game will take place at Noon ET on Saturday.
