With Marvin Harrison and Emeka Egbuka heading to the NFL, there are a lot of people wondering who might come in and become the next big Ohio State wide receiver. But one Buckeyes player believes that the next great Ohio State wideout is already on the roster.
Speaking to the media ahead of the Cotton Bowl Classic, Ohio State cornerback Denzel Burke praised Carnell Tate and believes he’s going to be the next great one. Tate is a true freshman with 17 catches for 260 yards and a touchdown this season due in large part too Harrison and Egbuka getting the bulk of the targets this season.
“Carnell Tate, he’s been him since he got here. He’s kind of taken over that spot since Marv isn’t going to be playing, he’s going to be him,” Burke said, via Saturday Tradition.
Burke went so far as to predict that Tate will be a first-round pick in the future.
“He’s going to be the next first-round guy out of here, mark my words. He’s a great player, he’s a pro on and off the field… I kind of see a little of him in me when I was coming in as a freshman, just how focused he was and how much this game means to him.”
