This year’s Rose Bowl, which is one of the quarterfinals of the College Football Playoff, is an All-Big Ten affair.
Oregon, in its first year in the Big Ten after defecting from the Pac-12, posted an undefeated regular season before beating Penn State in the conference title game. One of the Ducks’ 13 wins so far was a 32-31 thriller over Ohio State back in October. As a result of being the No. 1 seed in the 12-team CFP bracket, Oregon received a bye to the quarterfinals.
Speaking of the Buckeyes, they went 10-2 in the regular season, a “disappointing” showing for them, especially considering one of the two losses was their fourth consecutive one against Michigan. Ohio State recovered to blow out Tennessee in the first round of the College Football Playoff, setting the stage for a rematch with Oregon in Pasadena.
The top-seeded Ducks have no shortage of uniform combinations, and they have revealed which one they’ll be rocking against OSU. It features their classic green and gold tops with white pants and socks and a metallic helmet.

These are clean, but we have to admit, we’d have loved to see Oregon break out the full throwback look, complete with gold pants and helmets.
After wearing all-scarlet outfits against Tennessee, Ohio State is keeping it simple for the Rose Bowl, wearing traditional white and gray road uniforms without the gray stripes they’ve won in past College Football Playoff appearances.
This will be the fifth all-time meeting between Ohio State and Oregon, and their second Rose Bowl matchup. In the first one, on Jan. 1, 2010, the Buckeyes pulled out a 26-17 win.
These two programs also met 10 years ago in the first College Football Playoff Championship Game, won by Ohio State.
The Rose Bowl between Ohio State and Oregon will kick off at approximately 5 p.m. ET on Jan. 1.
The winner will face either Texas or Arizona State in the CFP semifinals.
