On Saturday morning, the football world received horrific news when a former college football star and NFL quarterback passed away.
Former Ohio State star Dwayne Haskins died in a car accident, his agent told ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Haskins was just 24 years old.
“Dwayne Haskins, a standout at Ohio State before struggling to catch on with Washington and Pittsburgh in the NFL, died this morning when he got hit by a car in South Florida, per his agent Cedric Saunders,” Schefter said. “Haskins would have turned 25 years old on May 3.”

Schefter reported that Haskins was training in South Florida with other Steelers players, like new quarterback Mitchell Trubisky. “He was killed this morning in South Florida when he got hit by a vehicle,” Schefter reported.
Haskins was a standout quarterback for the Buckeyes in college. He set several school records before becoming a first-round pick by the Washington Redskins – now the Commanders. He spent several seasons in Washington before the team released him.
The former Ohio State star landed in what many assumed to be the perfect place for him: with the Pittsburgh Steelers. After one season as the third-string quarterback, he was expected to compete for the primary backup role this year.
Our thoughts are with the Haskins family, Ohio State community and the Steelers organization during this difficult time.
