Ohio State has officially announced the Bill O’Brien hire after it got reported late Thursday night.
O’Brien is now the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach after spending this past season with the New England Patriots as their offensive coordinator.
Brian Hartline, who has been OSU’s wide receivers coach and was the offensive coordinator this season, will be the program’s co-offensive coordinator.

Even though Hartline isn’t the de facto OC, he’s still likely going to have a big say in the offense. He’s done a tremendous job with the wide receivers during his tenure and has been responsible for the development of players like Chris Olave, Garrett Wilson, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba.
Head coach Ryan Day is hoping that these moves get the offense more consistent next season after it struggled at times this season.
OSU finished the 2023 season with an 11-2 record after losing its final two games.
