There’s no coach in college football facing more pressure next season than Ohio State’s Ryan Day.
For starters, Ohio State’s roster will be absolutely loaded for the 2024 season. Star defensive players such as Jack Sawyer, Tyleik Williams, Denzel Burke and JT Tuimoloau have announced their intentions to return to the Buckeyes. On the offensive side of the football, TreVeyon Henderson and Emeka Egbuka have revealed that they’re coming back for one more year.
Another factor is that Michigan is coming off its first national title since 1997. Ohio State fans will demand another championship from their team.
Speaking of Michigan, it’s possible Jim Harbaugh leaves the Wolverines for the NFL. If that happens, that would make the Buckeyes’ path to winning the Big Ten much easier.
With all that said, Day has to win next season. Period.
“If Ryan Day can’t win a single trophy with this team next year then there’s no defending him any longer,” the Scarlet and Gray Podcast wrote. “This Ohio State roster is the best in college football from top to bottom it’s time to make the Buckeyes the kings of college football once again in 2024.”

Countless people agree with this take.
“Ohio State returns nearly every starter, brings in a new QB & RB,” Alex Ansted said. “A team that went 11-1 last year at full strength with a 6 point road loss to the national champs. Ryan Day absolutely HAS to win in 2024.”

Day has a 56-8 record as the head coach of the Buckeyes. While that’s not bad at all, the fan base is still waiting for him to win the last game of the season.
If that trend continues, Day could be replaced in Columbus.
